Vzájemné ovlivňování angličtiny a druhého cizího jazyka a jejich vliv na jazykovou úroveň studentů na českých středních školách

My diploma thesis is concerned with the possible effects of linguistic transfer between a Czech grammar school students' acquired languages, namely English and French or German, on their performance in these languages. The thesis is written on the backdrop of the Czech Education System. The System of Curricular Documents and the related documents which predetermine the students' language development are introduced, and their most important implications for the development of the students' L2 and L3 are listed out. The foreign languages which this thesis is predominantly focused on, namely English, French and German, are analysed diachronically, synchronically and typologically to establish their main principles, their similarities, and differences, which may serve as the possible sources of linguistic transfer. Cognitive processes underlying the development of L2 and L3 systems in the context of the Czech Education System and relevant theories are introduced, including the variables which determine to a significant degree the development of these languages and may have implications for the possible instances of linguistic transfer. Web Service for Pronunciation Training and Foreign Language Learning

This article presents a design and an implementation of Web application for English pronunciation training. Nowadays, there are a lot of on-line applications that help to improve English level or skill level of any other foreign language. On the other hand, there are not so many applications that help to improve pronunciation of given language. This project was developed to fill the gap, and to enable users to practice pronunciation by repeating short video segments. Using their microphone device users will record their speech. This speech will be compared with the reference recording. Result of this comparison will be returned to the user as a similarity score. The similarity score is computed using Dynamic Time Warping algorithm, that is incorporated inside a video player used in this application.

The Influence of English on Other Languages, Especially Czech

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem angličtiny na jiné jazyky, zejména na dnešní český jazyk. V úvodů se práce zabývá o historickém pozadí anglického jazyka s cílem porozumět důvodům širokého používání angličtiny v současné době. Dále je vysvětlena důležitost výuky angličtiny v současné době a vysvětluje hlavní důvody jejího učení. Následující část se zabývá praktickou částí, kde byly analyzovány různé knihy, články, které dokazují existenci anglických přejatých slov v češtině, ruštině a francouzštině. V této části práce jsou také analyzovány důvody pro přijetí přejatých slov. Poslední kapitola vysvětluje negativní dopad anglického jazyka na další jazyky.

The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the current situation of the company Studyline s. r .o. and the innovation proposal, which is the realization of the language school in Brno. The aim of the thesis is to design a functional marketing strategy that will be applicable in real terms as early as 2018. The thesis also includes a thorough analysis of the internal and external environment, which is summarized by SWOT analysis. The work also evaluates the project's risks, thorough monitoring of the competition, and, in the final stage, marketing strategies for language schools, including the prediction of future developments.

V mé semestrální práce jsem popsala historii anglického jazyka k porozumění proč tento jazyk je široce používán v dnešní době v jiných zemích. Hlavními důvody půjčování anglických slov jsou kolonizace různých míst ve světě britskou říší a vedení USA v oblasti počítačových technologií, inženýrství a televize. Vysvětluji také jak jsou tyto tendence přijímány ve světě. Negativní a pozitivní aspekty jsou podrobně popsány.

Program to support correct pronunciation of foreign languages

The aim of the diploma thesis is the development of an autonomous program for checking and evaluating the pronunciation of a foreign language. Theoretical part includes a treatise on the history and importance of computer-assisted language teaching; it also contains a brief introduction to phonetics, phonology and pronunciation issues, as well as an introduction to speech signal processing with a focus on computational methods for pronunciation analysis. In the practical part, a search of currently widespread and available tools for pronunciation control was processed and a number of algorithms usable for its analysis were programmed. Some of the algorithms have been enclosed in a graphical user interface as a basic prototype of a functional program to support pronunciation. The achieved results and the direction of further development are discussed in the conclusion.

A Classification of a Syndicated Content

This work deals with a classification of a syndicated content as the possible way of organizing the content. The classification uses algorithms for natural language processing. The main contribution is applying word sense disambiguation algorithm for enhancing the classification, eliminating the learning stage, and using a readability test for improving user experience. The application is implemented as an extensible server-client model. The future work is discussed in the end.

Intonation of Czech Speakers When Speaking English

Intonace je často popisována jakožto pohyb výšek v mluvené řeči, který člověku pomáhá se slovním vyjádřením svých myšlenek. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá možnými obtížemi s intonací, se kterými se může Čech setkat při mluvení anglicky, neboť mohou vést ke změně významu ním vyřčených slov. Cílem práce je se tyto potíže pokusit rozlišit, a to vysvětlením základních pojmů spojených s intonací, a jejich aplikací při porovnání nahrávek hlasů desíti Čechů vyslovujících osm anglických frází s nahrávkami stejných frází namluvenými čtyřmi rodilými mluvčími.

This bachelor´s thesis is elaborated according to the assignment of Honeywell company, which decided to broaden learning possibilities of foreign languages in their company by e-learning. Employees will have an opportunity to use e-learning system, which will help them to enhance their knowledge beside attending classical lessons. E-learning includes various kinds of exercises and homeworks as well, which are sent to particular lector for checking. E-learning is a web application placed on the Internet and is accessible anywhere, where Internet connection is available. It includes administration interface for lectors and employees, which is only accessible by login and password. The system was created by HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript and MySQL technology and certainty nowadays is technology Ajax as well.
